Dr. Dane Munro
Dane Munro (Melbourne, 1958) exchanged the Netherlands for Malta in 1990. He was educated at the University of Malta (Classical Languages, History, Tourism) and also obtained his PhD in 2019 from the University of Groningen (Early Modern History). One of his academic specialties includes funerary art and other (art)historical aspects, and the associated self-image of the Knights of St John, as presented in St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta. Another is the examination of the phenomenon of pilgrimage through the millennia.
One of his other life goals is to support the activities of the Order of Malta. In another position, he has accepted the presidency of the Sacra Militia Foundation , an academic organization that researches as many different aspects of the Order of Malta as possible during its stay in Malta between 1530 and 1798.
